Fifth Letter!!!!

Hola!!!! MTC February 11, 2013
My companions and I did a temple endowment session today...so wonderful!!! Last week Hermana Anderson and I did sealings and the week before that we did initiatory...sweet experiences!!! However, today we were happy to do an endowment session again. I never thought the outside of the Provo temple to be very pretty, but holy cow it is beautiful on the inside! On Sunday’s temple walks are scheduled after our sacrament meeting, however it is freezing outside and Hermana Anderson and I find it nice to stay in the warm building to have extra study time and then save the temple walk for preparation day when we walk to the temple. Hermana Lopez, however is our social butterfly and usually does splits with the other sisters in our zone so she can walk to the temple with everyone on Sundays. However, yesterday they didn't allow anyone to do the temple walk because of all the snow. It seems that every preparation/temple day we have, it is SUNNY=Entranable Misericordia(tender Mercy)! I love walking out from the temple with so much sunshine! It always seems like the rest of the week is cloudy and snowy! I love the MTC...not so much Provo though, haha...only one more week of snow!!! Then it's all sweat for a year and a half...absolutely cannot wait!
Yesterday during sacrament meeting, it was fun to be able to do a musical number with both of my companions. They both sang "Abide with me," while an elder from our district (elder Black) played the piano and I played the violin. The MTC has a violin that you can check out so it was really nice to play again. Jocelyn...I miss playing the violin with you so much! The second week here at the MTC we had a new MTC president, President Nally. President Nally and Sister Nally spoke and then they had four of their daughters play the violin...Amazing!! Made me cry a little as I thought of all the music that has brought my sisters/our family close together! Music=Tender mercy from God!
I really do not feel ready with the language but I'm taking that step of faith whether I want to or not because on Thursday we finally received our travel plans!! Our whole district was jumping up with joy!! It was almost like we received another mission call...maybe even a little better!:) We leave on Tuesday at 3:00 in the mañana!! We then have a layover in Texas for a few hours...We are all excited to practice our street contacting skills in the airport of Texas...I was told that I can call you (mi familia) from the Salt lake airport and from the Texas airport and then I should be arriving in Costa Rica 8:00 pm. (I'll send a photo of the travel itinerary so you can know when to be by the phone). Yesterday, one of the counselors of my branch encouraged us to be thinking of what we want to say to our mission president when we get there...I am excited to meet President Wilkinson and his wife and let them know- how excited I am to work hard every hour of every day!
I think the most important thing that I have learned in the mission field is that this is not about me!!! That's probably something pretty obvious and something that I thought I understood...but it's becoming more clear to me of how much I cannot be thinking of myself. Some days it is easy to become distracted, or to think of all the hard things that I am facing, or to think that I will never learn the language...but that is all self centered! I have found that I truly can become converted when I turn out to help others. I love the scripture Mosiah 28:3 - where it says my soul did quake for the welfare of their souls ...Even though I am not in Costa Rica yet, I want to love the people now. I want to work my hardest now so that I can help them be converted to Christ and so they can find what true happiness is!!
We watched a talk by Elder Bednar "developing Characteristics of Chirsit" (my favorite). He explained that many people with testimonies fall away but people who are converted never fall away! I challenge all of you to find this talk and read it because it is amazing!! Last week we had a devotional and the speaker asked that everyone who has a family member that has gone inactive to stand up...about 90% of the missionaries in the auditorium stood up. We have a lot of work to do!! But I love this work and I hope you all will strive to be converted to Christ, not to the church, but to our Savior!! I love you and this gospel is true...Pura Vida!!

Fourth Letter!!!

Dear ……….Familia y Amigos!!!!!!!! February 4, 2013

Only 2 weeks left here at the MTC, and I do not feel ready! Pero, I'm praying that the Lord well help me be prepared enough for those people in Costa Rica!! All of us missionaries going to Costa Rica are hoping to get our travel plans this Friday and hoping that our visa is coming real soon! It's been so amazing to watch our Zone grow so big. First week here there were only 2 districts. There originally were 8 in the first district and then 10 in my district. But our zone has doubled and there is another district joining us this week with 6 elders and 6 sisters. They say in about 3 weeks there should be the same amount of sisters as elders here in the MTC...us hermanas are pretty excited!!!

Yesterday my district had a pretty sweet testimony meeting. After the meeting I just felt such a great love for each of the missionaries in my district. The testimonies that others bear help you see people for who they really are, which is a child of God. I love it! In my district there is a trio of elders, 2 sets of companions, and then the Hermana trio ( me and my companions).

For the record: Elder Black: he is young but with the help of our teacher Hermano Zenger, I have seen him grow spiritually stronger. He is really musical and makes me a little jealous, haha. Elder Ritchie is our district leader. He is quiet but is dedicated and diligent in his work! Elder Johnson is the fun but an eager missionary to do the work of the Lord. Elder Chisolm was struggling with the language a little bit at the beginning, but I have seen him progress so much because of his hard work. Elder Pugh is a 6'6" giant...both physically and spiritually. I feel that his spiritual maturity has grown so much! Elder Hinckley is the buff elder that all the other elders really look up to. He had 5 knee surgeries before his mission call and never thought he would be serving out of state...tender mercy for him when he got called to serve in panama. Elder Banaier is from Guadeloupe and keeps us all smiling and laughing with his French accent and not very good English. He is learning Spanish and will be serving in France. He blows our minds when he can't think of how to say something in English and transfers to Spanish(Native language is French). Thank you to those who have written Elder Bananier...he doesn't get any letters from family and so I have loved seeing his face when he got a letter from someone he didn't know. He was really grateful for those letters! My companion and I, and all the elders, except for Hinckley and Bananier, are going to Costa Rica! Me and my companions are so grateful that we will be able to see each other in Costa Rica for the next year and a half.

I love these girls so much and they have taught me many important lessons! Hermana Anderson is 20 and from South Joradan Utah. She was supposed to " run" for BYU but ended up having to have surgery on her ankles. She didn't think she would be able to walk again, but how grateful we are for the miracle of her being able to walk and serve a mission with me and Hermana Lopez. She is one organized and structured girl, but me and Hermana Lopez are so

grateful for that because it keeps us on track! Hermana Lopez is the energy of our companionship. She is 23 and from Tuila, Utah (originally from California). Her Dad is from El Salvador and so she knew a tiny, tiny bit of spanish before she got here. Hermana Anderson and I have been trying to adopt her accent...hasn't quite worked yet though. Hermana Anderson has been Mormon her whole life and Hermana Lopez was converted when she was like 12. Her family isn't totally active, so we're glad she can be that light and example to her family.

I am so grateful for our strong bond in our companionship, it helps the spirit to be with us always and most importantly when we are teaching Fernando and Gloria. Fernando is getting baptized this Saturday, which we are so excited for. He was a little unsure about the whole tithing thing but we invited him to fast and pray about it this past Sunday, so we are excited to talk to him tonight. Gloria has two children and a boyfriend who is a member. Her progress is slow, but we have seen a desire grow within her to learn more and do as the Savior has taught. She loved the plan of Salvation. We teach both of these investigators twice a week. All our planning, personal study, companionship study, language study, and class time is centered on Gloria and Fernando. But when you lose yourself for His sake, you will find it

..................................Well I'm out of time but I just want you to know that I had the best Tender Mercies yesterday. Wednesday Hiedi Corbridge and Emily Lewis (cousin) arrived on Wendnesday...no sight of them for five days! I prayed and prayed that I would run into them somehow. Sunday morning my electrical outlet had a shortage so I had to curl my hair in the bathroom. My bathroom was full so I went down the hall to the next bathroom. Few minutes later I find could Emily standing next to me at the bathroom. There was a little bit of screaming and lots of hugging! Love that sister missionary! Aunt Vivienn...She is doing great and smiling as much as she always does!! Argentina will love her!! Sunday evening came along and I still trusted that the Lord would lead me to Heidi...I found her meal time schedule from the front desk and went to her dinner which was an hour before mine...still no sign of her. However while staning in line for some food, I looked over to the right, and there was a peaceful sister Corbridge praying over her food!!! I ran over to where she was sitting and caught her by surprise after she was done praying. The Lord answers prayers and know our needs for sure!!! Most important thing I learned this past week...trust in the Lord!!! "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding." Proverbs 3:5. I challenge all of you to recognize all that the Lord has done for you and trust in Him with all your heart! The gospel is true and the MTC is one of the best places on earth!! Buenos Noches!!!

Third Letter!!

Familia y Amigos!!!   January 28, 2013            MTC  Provo, Utah (Sister Myreel Pease)

Well another week, which means I have almost reached my halfway point at the MTC...ya, pretty loco!! This past week we received another investigator named Gloria! Even though these investigators aren't really investigating, Our teachers, who are our fake investigators, have taken real investigators from their mission. When our teacher pointed that out, it was neat to realize that these people who are constantly on our minds, who we are constantly praying for, and who we are constantly study for are actually real people indeed. My companions and I love these investigators...and when they are not our investigators we love them as our teachers, Hermana Collette and Hermano Zenger!!! Both are amazing teachers who are inspired by the spirit. Hermano Zenger reminds me of Dad, seriously!! I learn so much from him and I feel that more importantly, Hermano Zenger has taught me how to better learn from the spirit!

Well Mom, remember how before I came to the MTC we were talking about the 300 missionaries who had the stomach flu at the MTC and how I didn't want to get it...well, I made the cuts for receiving 2 days of sitting in my room while throwing up, just my luck, haha. Actually it wasn't too bad, only threw up like 3 times. I was sick on Friday and Saturday, but a couple days before, my companions and I were joking how it would be nice if one of us would get sick so the other 2 companions would have more personal time to study, cuz there is never enough time for personal study time. Friday morning when I woke up throwing up, all I could say to my companions was "merry Christmas." We all promised to never wish for something like that again.

Friday when I went to the clinique I saw Elder Scofield. I felt really bad, because he had hurt his leg somehow...I wasn't really coherent when he was telling me what happened but I think he's good, he always has a positive attitude about the mish and is just so excited for Germany! He also told me that he is escorting on Wednesday, which is when Heidi and Emily come!!! I am just so excited to see those girls and I know they are going to be amazing missionaries.  Each week it's amazing to watching the MTC grow with larger masses of missionaries. We were told that by the summer there should up to 8,000 missionaries in the MTC...the Lord knows what he is doing and it is so amazing to be a part of this miraculous work. Thanks again for all the prayers that go to the missionaries...I am trying my best and am loving it here! Many days are hard and stressful but I know why I am here! I love the Lord and want others to come unto Christ so that they can feel the love and happiness that I feel! The gospel is true!!

 Love, Hermana Pease

Second Letter

Hola!!!!! January 21, 2013

Two weeks has flown by!!!! I am so excited to leave to Costa Rica in just 4 weeks, however I'm really happy I still have the four weeks here in the MTC! I have so much to learn. The first investigator that we taught here in the MTC accepted the invitation to be baptized next week! Me and my compeneras were so excited!! Even though the investigator is already Mormon, it all seemed so real! Every lesson we were able to feel the spirit take over as we bore witness of the truth! Most of the time we can see Fernando(our investigator) laughing in his mind cuz most the time we don't make sense. I think my companion accidentally told Fernando that Our Savior washed away our fish instead of sins just a few times during a lesson, haha. However the spirit was so strong every time we bore our testimony to him, no matter how simple it was. My companions have been making it a goal to speak Spanish as much as we can when we are not in class. It is fun to be able to carry the small little conversations that don't mean very much...but it's hopeful to us.

Yesterday while waiting in one of the main halls we began talking with two elders. One was from Japan and one was from COSTA RICA!! They both spoke English very well and all three of us sisters (me and my companions) became so excited to meet one of our first fellow Costa Ricans!!! We asked him to say something in Spanish....Oh Crud was all I could think after all he said was, "what do you want me to say?"...he talked so rapido!!!! We were so excited to ask about is home. He said that there are lots of crabs, and tarantulas, and SLOTHS!!!! He also said that the branches are really small but the people there are so kind and generous. His name was Elder Escobar and we told him that we would look for his family while in Costa Rica! His mission is the Salt Lake mission, so we told him we were happy to switch places with him while he is here in Utah.

Yesterday in Relief Society we had the general primary president come and speak to us...she was awesome!! At the very beginning of her talk she had all of us sisters sing "I hope they call me on a mission," except she changed the words a little bit..."I'm glad they called me on a mission, so I can grow a foot or two." Can't believe that I'm actually here learning and growing from the best teacher, the Spirit!! Thank you so much for all of your examples and support in my life! Each of you have been a blessing in my life more than you realize! During Sis. Wixom's talk she told a story of how a missionary was being chased by a dog. When he realized that the dog was about to bite, he decided that it was either his leg or his paperback book of Mormon that he had in his hand. So he stuck out his book of Mormon and the dog bit it (I was a little disturbed by the fact that he decided to sacrifice

his book of Mormon instead of his leg, haha). He showed Sis. Wixom where the bite mark had gone all the way down to 2 Nephi 17. The missionary told Sis. Wixom, "look the dog stops at Isaiah too!" haha, I thought that was a funny story.

Well I just wanted to tell everyone that I'm so grateful to all those who have written me!!!! Seriously, they are so amazing!! It's so helpful to have so much encouragement from friends and family. Sorry I am so slow at responding but unfortunately they don't give you a lot of time, in fact my computer says I have 3 minutes left, dah! ha...Family...thank you so much for E-mails!! They mean the world to me!!! I was in the temple today and I feel that is the best place and best time to be thinking of you...I love you all so much!!! Jocelyn!!! Congratulations to me for being another aunt!!!!! O how excited I am!!! You are one amazing mother, and don't you ever forget that!!! You better keep me updated on my little nephew/ niece!!!

There is one quote I want to share before I end..."When you are compelled to give up something or when things that are dear to you are withdrawn from you, know that this is your lesson to be learned right now. But know also that as you are learning this lesson, God wants to give you something better." -Elder Busche...This is God's work...That's why it is called "Preach MY Gospel" and so because it is His Gospel, it has to be done His way. I pray that we can find in our lives a way to be more obedient to OUR God to show our love for Him. I love this Gospel and thank you parents for raising me and teaching me through the spirit!!! TGT (Aunt Dantzy, I just have to tell you real quick that every day I don't go without my H2O orange juice... and every time I think of you!). Grandma...Just need to tell you I love you and miss you!!! Remember who you are and what you stand for!!

Love, Hermana Pease
